Shoe throwing: CJ orders larger bench on plea against lawyer
LHC CJ observed that the matter was of great importance and should be heard by a larger bench.
LAHORE:
Hearing a petition seeking action against a lawyer for throwing a shoe at a civil judge in Faisalabad, the Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice (CJ) on Tuesday observed that the matter was of great importance and should be heard by a larger bench.
The CJ then adjourned the hearing and directed the registrar’s office to constitute a larger bench to hear the case. Advocate Rana Shahid, who has filed the petition, submitted that lawyer Chaudhry Maqsood had hit a judge Asad Ali with a shoe but neither the Faisalabad sessions judge nor the district bar association had taken any action against the lawyer. He said the incident was a blow to the judiciary’s dignity and the lawyer should be punished.
