ISLAMABAD:
The Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) on Tuesday banned the entry of Interior Secretary Siddiq Akbar after he arrived late for a briefing on the issue of missing persons in Pakistan.

Committee Chairman Senator Raza Rabbani directed the staff to not open the door of Committee Room 5 after Akbar arrived 25 minutes late for the briefing.

The PCNS was being briefed by Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant-General Zaheerul Islam and officials of other intelligence agencies.

DG ISI Zaheerul Islam was 35 minutes late for the meeting, but PCNS members allowed his entry.

Officials informed lawmakers about steps being taken by the concerned authorities regarding missing persons.

Sources said that DG ISI Zaheerul Islam informed the committee about the deplorable law and order situation in Balochistan.

Inspector General (IG) Frontier Corps (FC) Major General Nadir Zaib and the Balochistan home secretary also briefed the committee.

Zaib informed the committee that all missing persons went to Afghanistan and no one was in FC custody, a participant of the meeting told The Express Tribune.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Zaib said that suggestions on how to solve the missing persons issue had been submitted to the government and it was now their responsibility to work on them and solve the issue.
