Sino-pak friendship: Orient expands energy projects

Orient to expand in the power sector, intends to enter oil and gas sector to help the country meet its energy needs.

Chinese conglomerate Orient Group of Companies Chairman Zhang Hongwei called on President Asif Ali Zardari to brief him on  Pakistani ventures on Monday.



He said that Orient was keen to expand in the power sector and intends to enter the oil and gas sector to help the country meet its energy needs.

President Zardari appreciated Orient’s cooperation with the Pak-China Joint Energy Working Group  to extend thermal, coal, nuclear and alternative energy sources in Pakistan. He invited Orient group to set up an oil refinery at Karachi port and assured full support. Finally, he added that Pakistan looks forward to benefitting from the firm’s expertise in port development, banking and investment.
