Mohajir suba: An old champion comes forward to demand a new province
Addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Monday, Mohajir Ittehad Tehrik chairman Dr Saleem Haider claimed that the demand for a Mohajir sooba was the loudest cry in urban centres of Sindh.
“All the five commissioners in Sindh are Sindhis. Out of 27 deputy commissioners, 25 are Sindhis. About 90 per cent of police in Karachi is Sindhi and Mohajirs are not getting their due share in public sectors. This discrimination has compelled Mohajirs to demand a separate province for them,” said Saleem Haider, who was one of the founding members of All Pakistan Mohajir Students Organisation.
“We did not come here as guests. Mohajirs migrated to Pakistan according to an international agreement. About 45 per cent of Hindus moved to India and Mohajirs came to Sindh.”
When asked that Muttahida Qaumi Movement has not openly supported the demand, Saleem Haider, said, “The MQM will support it. It is a public demand. I appeal to Altaf Hussain to move a resolution,” he added.

i have been grown up in interior sindh. i support for a province in sindh,calling any name. but it is true sindhi dont want to give mohajir theire due share. one day mqm get out of government, ppp and sindi nationalist punish them with operation. they treat mohajir as theire slaves. they extended the quota system since last forty years. karahi is home of Mohajir, 90% job should be given to mohajir, the same 90 % jobs in interior sindh they can keep for sindhis. there are so many discremation to mohajir, it can be written 100 pages

A separate administrative province is needed in Sindh ASAP. Non-tax payer Sindhi Feudal Landlords have destroyed the province!
@Karachhiite You mentioned Just Sindh secretariat? What about Water board Karachi?? Not a single officer is of any other ethnicity is working there all are urdu speaking. Go check there. And currently thousands on urdu speaking young men are inducted in police. Correct me if i am wrong coz i have my facts checked coz i am urdu speaking too but i am not supporting this Muhajir sooba thing . And please check your facts before you make any claim, atleast read newspapers. All urdu news papers print Sindh public Service Commission ads here is one from a newspaper

I know the situation of secretariat, that's because of PPP led government. MQM is an ally it can part ways due to such a thing. Why don't they? Do you know only Sindhi & urdu speaking people are allowed in KESC currently. i trust you know that Karachi is mini Pakistan. People from all languages live here.
@Holmes: Sindh public service commisssion advertisments are not advertised in urdu newpapers. Rural sindh has population 49% and their designated quota is 60%. Even this over representation is not for the most backward province Balochistan. If some one want to see the actual situation, he does not have to bring statistics, or magnifier he needs just five minute visit to sindh secretariat. He would hardly find any karachiite. KDA and KMC which are totally local district level instititutions majority of the staff is from Shikarpur/ larkana region. If Karachi is developed it is not due to federal or provincial government. Larkana is 15 times smaller than Karachi and funds allocated for that city is much higher then karachi. Go and check the statistics
Wow!!! How much hatred for Sindhis? Yet urdu speaking people support MQM who is an unconditional supporter of PPP. The point simple, Urdu speaking people want Government positions, as simple as that. Go give the examination of Sindh Public Service commission, you will get the job. Demanding a separate province just for creating Government job for themselves is very selfish of these people, besides this is the most developed part of Pakistan which is not deprived in any way.

Our grand father has left their home , froend and Family and their whole Property and then came to pakistan, but here in pakistan they dont have rites to sevive here ,,, we think that still we are living another country where we are not safe.. that why our demand is for Mahajir soba....

I remember this guy was a staunch critic of MQM and Altaf Hussain in past. All this drama is to favor PPP who uses such people to gets votes in future by frightening Sindhis
Why crying? Altaf Bhai himself said that he is a Sindhi, son of Sindh dharti. So technically there is no DISCRIMINATION against anyone.
The commissioner of Karachi is an Urdu speaking, Muhammad Hussain Syed. What is wrong with this guy. At least he should get his facts right.
Also, anyone who lives in Karachi can tell that a significant percentage of police is neither Sindhi nor Muhajir but people from up country.
