Spring Cleaning: 12,000 tons of garbage cleared

Tons of debris from demolished buildings were also lifted from seven plots.

The Rawalpindi Municipal Services Department has removed around 12,000 tons garbage from 33 union councils (UCs) during the ongoing cleanliness campaign in the city. Under the special campaign, 33 UCs have been cleared along with 16 kilometres sewerage lines have also been cleaned.



Four UCs were cleaned on Saturday. Tons of debris from demolished buildings were also lifted from seven plots — three in Potohar Town and four in Rawal Town.

Municipal Services Executive District Officer (EDO) Imtiaz Ahmed Malik informed the meeting that the officials are regularly visiting different areas of the city to inspect the cleanliness drive being carried out by sanitary workers.

He said that citizens including traders have been urged to cooperate with sanitary workers.
