Lacklustre Campaign: 2 DHOs suspended in Balochistan
DHOs suspended for not carrying anti-polio campaign effectively in their respective areas.
QUETTA:
Balochistan’s chief secretary has suspended two district health officers (DHOs), on the grounds of lacklustre performance during the recently concluded anti-polio drive in Ziarat and Khuzdar.
According to a statement, DHO Ziarat Dr Maqbool Ahmed and DHO Khuzdar Dr Mohammad Ayub Bajoi were suspended as they did not carry out the anti-polio campaign effectively in their respective areas.
“Polio is widespread in Balochistan and any negligence in this regard would not be tolerated,” pointed out the statement.
DHO Harnani was handed over the additional charge of Ziarat while DHO Kalat has been given the charge of Khuzdar. According to official sources, at least 15 polio cases have so far been reported in Pakistan in 2012, including two from Quetta.
A three-day anti-polio campaign will begin in the province on May 7th in Quetta, Pishin and Killa Abdullah.
