Back To Square One: Greece deports illegal immigrants

The illegal immigrants were taken into custody by officials of AHTC Rawalpindi on their arrival

ISLAMABAD:
Cutting short the illegal journey of sixty-five Pakistanis to Europe, Greece authorities deported them on Saturday. The illegal immigrants were taken into custody by officials of Anti-Human Trafficking Circle (AHTC) Rawalpindi on their arrival at Benazir Bhutto International Airport by a Gulf Air flight. During initial investigations, the deportees told the Federal Investigation Agency’s AHTC officials that they reached Greece by road through Iran and Turkey with the help of various human smugglers. The AHTC registered fresh cases against the human traffickers and released the men. The deportees included 48 men from Gujranwala, nine from Rawalpindi, five from Peshawar, two from Faisalabad and one from Lahore. The smugglers had promised to take them to central Europe through Greece but they were caught before they could reach their destination.
