QUETTA:
While hearing a case on the deteriorating law and order situation in Balochistan, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said on Friday that the personnel of security forces were like his “children”, but the court was helpless and asked them to present the missing persons before the court.

Hearing the case at the Supreme Court’s Quetta registry, the chief justice said that the court wanted the matter to be resolved peacefully but now it will issue orders.

Chief Justice Chaudhry ordered the Inspector General of Police to present the lawyer who went missing from Khuzdar, Muneer Meerwani and a doctor who went missing from Saryab, Dr Akbar, within two weeks.

The chief justice enquired from the deputy attorney general as to where the regional supervisors of the intelligence agencies were and said that they should have been present during the hearing. He said that when the IG can come to the court then they, too, should.

He also remarked that the advocate general should save the fire which has inflicted the whole province.
