Football: Rummenigge sure about Robben stay
“Robben will stay at Bayern for a long time,” Rummenigge
BERLIN:
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is confident that Dutch star Arjen Robben will extend his contract with the club beyond June 2013. “Robben will stay at Bayern for a long time,” Rummenigge told Sport Bild, adding that ‘no star will leave us’ in the off-season. Rummenigge’s stance was shared by the club’s ex-president Franz Beckenbauer, who was quoted by Bild as saying that ‘Bayern needs Robben’. The duo’s statements follow Bild’s announcement that Robben and his agent had put off extending his contract until 2015, unhappy at the way that the club had dealt with a dressing room bust-up that saw the player struck by teammate Franck Ribery.
