Civic duty: Committee formed to assess Lyari damage
Compensation for victims of Lyari violence announced.
KARACHI:
Sindh government formed a committee to assess the damage caused to people by miscreants in Lyari.
The committee consists of Karachi Commissioner Roshan Ali Shaikh and Deputy Commissioner South Jamal Mustafa Qazi, who would visit Lyari to examine the situation.
The president had also asked the Sindh Chief Minister to provide Rs10,000 to every victim and to also arrange for financial compensation for people whose houses were damaged. “Relief camps would be set up for the victims until criminals are wiped out from Lyari,” Zardari reportedly said. Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri said that the Provincial Disaster Management Authority had already set up these camps in Lyari and other places.
