Civil society: Rights for informal workers demanded
Demonstrators said services of home-based workers, domestic workers and peasants should be regularised
FAISALABAD:
Participants of a rally arranged by various non-governmental organisations and political parties urged the government to ensure that social security and old-age benefits were available to all workers. The rally was arranged jointly by Peace and Human Development (PHD) Foundation, Association of Women for Awareness and Motivation (AWAM), CARE Foundation, POWER Pakistan, LEHR Network and Workers Party Pakistan (WPP).
The demonstrators said services of home-based workers, domestic workers and peasants should be regularised under the labour laws so that they could avail their rights. They demanded an end to child labour.
