Wheat: Procurement to start on Saturday

Wheat procurement in Rawalpindi district will be started from May 5, while the supply of gunny bags to farmers has already started, said Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Amdad Ullah Bosal. He added that 12 centres have been situated in four districts of Rawalpindi division for acquisition of 5,000 tons of wheat which will be purchased from farmers. Rawalpindi food department will buy wheat on subsidized rate of Rs1050 per 40 kg and in addition Rs7.50 will also be paid to the seller as delivery charges on 100 kg wheat delivered. The process will be completed in a transparent manner, under supervision of DCO Rawalpindi, in accordance with the policy of Punjab Government. The complaints and queries of sellers will be addressed on the spot by a committee. Bosal said the growers will be provided all possible facilities with full payment of the support price of their produce.
