BlackBerry App World officially launched in Pakistan
The app store had gone down abruptly within a day after being accessible in Pakistan in February.
BlackBerry’s official app marketplace – BlackBerry App World – has been made accessible in Pakistan once again after failing previously in February this year.
A statement issued by EMS – strategic channel partner of Research In Motion (RIM) for the region – stated that the official app store for BlackBerry users will now be available in Pakistan, reported ProPakistani.
The app store was made accessible in Pakistan earlier this year, but went down abruptly within a day. Officials at RIM had said that users in Pakistan started downloading free apps causing an overload of traffic.
According to officials, the accessibility of the store in Pakistan was not officially announced by RIM as it had a few technical problems.
The abrupt shutdown of the app store had come as a disappointment to users in the country who had earlier experienced BlackBerry Messenger outages last year and were not compensated like users in other countries.
After being launched in Pakistan, the availability of BlackBerry App World spreads to over 130 countries, in 14 languages and is supported by more than 26 currencies.
The app store was first launched in April 2009 in US, Canada and UK, and allows users to download a range of mobile applications available for BlackBerry smartphones.
