Express 24/7 correspondent Ahmed Jung reported that notorious drug dealer Saeed alias Kalu Current along with four close aides was killed in a successful operation conducted by police and Rangers. The successful operation ended a a day long gun battle in the area.

According to the report the police were greeted with open arms by the residents after the operation concluded.

The police had earlier faced opposition by the locals as there had been incidents of firing for the past five to six months in the area on a daily basis. Commercial activity had been affected and the locals opposed the lock down due to the tight security in the area.

It is reported that the shoot out lasted four days, marooning local residents in their homes.

Reports say gunmen opened fire on the Rangers, after which a gun battle ensued.

Police and Rangers are still trying to clean up the Dalmia area and have recovered arms and ammunition.

The CCPO Karachi has annouced an award of Rs 1 million for police and Rangers for hunting down the four most wanted criminals in Karachi.


Two policemen killed in Kemari

Two policemen were killed during an encounter in the Kemari area of Karachi.

ASI Abbas of Kemari Police station was busy in snap checking at a police picket when some gunmen arrived in a white car. The ASI asked them to stop, but the occupants of the car opened fire.

ASI Abbas and Head Constable Taliba were killed as a result of the shooting. The attackers fled the scene after the shootings.

Motorcycle ban lifted in Orangi Town

The Sindh government has lifted a ban on motorcycling in Orangi Town of Karachi.

The provincial government had banned bike riding in Orangi on Saturday night to control target killings.

A notification from the Sindh Home Ministry said that the ban has been lifted on the request of a peace committee.

Police, rangers and other law enforcement agencies concerned have been informed in this regard.
