Five-day festival: Lower Dir celebrates times of peace

The festival started on Saturday to mark a successful military operation and restoration of peace in the area.

LOWER DIR:
Lower Dir is celebrating its return to normalcy with a five-day peace festival organised by security forces in collaboration with the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government and Lower Dir administration.

The festival started on Saturday to mark a successful military operation and restoration of peace in the area.

“One of the main objectives of this festival is to revive tourism here,” said Dir Scouts Commandant Colonel Muhammad Kamran Aslam, who inaugurated the event.  This festival will send a positive message to people who are scared of visiting Lower Dir, he added.

The festival called “Peace Festival Lower Dir" was attended by a large number of people. Stalls of traditional food, books, and handicrafts were set up. The area’s DCO as well as other administration officials also performed traditional dances on the occasion.

“I have come from Wah-Cantt to participate in the festival. Peace has finally been restored in the region after the security forces' sacrifices, said a visitor, Farzana.
