Lyari violence: Nabil Gabol escapes attack
Operation being conducted in search of around 30 wanted criminals in Lyari.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Nabil Gabol escaped unhurt when miscreants attacked his car in the Lyari area of Karachi on Friday.
The police had denied the incident, but Gabol confirmed to the media that his car was attacked with a hand grenade.
Earlier, three people including two policemen were killed and 10 others were injured whereas forces arrested 20 suspects during a targeted operation in Lyari.
Unidentified men also threw hand grenades and fired rockets at police forces during the operation, injuring policemen and civilians.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Crime Investigation Department (CID) Chaudhry Aslam Khan, along with a heavy contingent of police and Frontier Constabulary (FC) entered Lyari at 5am.
By the time it reached Cheel Chawk, the contingent had been attacked by six rockets and one hand grenade, injuring a police official named Waqas.
Police set up posts at Cheel Chawk whereas criminals atop high rises continued incessant firing using latest weapons.
“People opened fire at the police, threw hand grenades and rocket launchers when the operation started… But the situation is now under control,” Khan told Express News.
The area resounded with the sound of blasts and firing. Businesses and shops remained closed, transport was nowhere to be seen. Residents of the area remained indoors.
According to sources, the operation was being conducted in search of around 30 wanted criminals including Baba Ladla, a criminal with a bounty of Rs2 million on his head.
