Crackdown: Huge quantity of timber seized
Crackdown launched on timber smugglers who had illegally stored sawed timber in two warehouses in Banda Gech village.
MANSEHRA:
In a joint operation, the forest authorities and police seized a huge quantity of timber on Thursday. However, no one was arrested during the operation. According to Divisional Forest Officer Raja Imtiaz, the crackdown was launched on a tip-off about the hideout of timber smugglers who had illegally stored sawed timber in two warehouses in Banda Gech village. Upon receiving the tip-off, the authorities conducted a raid and seized 5,000 feet of timber. This was the second seizure of timber during the past two weeks. Earlier, the authorities had seized 10,000 feet from the same area. However, the police have failed to arrest any timber smuggler during these raids, which suggests that the gang has a strong network and is informed about the operations ahead of time.
