Credit card scandal: Shumaila Rana rejoins Punjab Assembly

Rana had resigned from her seat in 2009 after a female MPA had accused her of stealing her credit card.

ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) member Shumaila Rana, who was allegedly involved in a credit card scandal, rejoined the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday.

Rana had resigned from her seat in July 2009 after a female MPA accused her of stealing and using her credit card. Rana alleged that she was forced to quit Punjab Assembly by the provincial government, but the PML-N leadership had denied pressurising her.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday declared Rana a successful candidate on a PML-N ticket on the women reserved seat in the Punjab Assembly. The ECP also declared two other candidates successful on women reserved seats in the National Assembly.
