Media talk: ‘Parties united for Seraiki province’
Prime minister said the PPP does not oppose the creation of any province, but there should be consensus.
ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, the Awami National Party, Fata parliamentarians and people within the PML-Nawaz are supportive of the Seraiki province and have helped the PPP in evolving a consensus over the issue.
Talking to journalists, the prime minister said the PPP does not oppose the creation of any province, but there should be consensus. He further revealed that his government is seriously considering holding local bodies’ elections in Islamabad, after which the capital city will have a mayor. Meanwhile, addressing a seminar on the “Role of International NGOs in the Development of Pakistan”, he said that Pakistan is already discussing the issues of Siachen and Sir Creek with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
