Asghar Khan petition: Attorney General says inquiry reports misplaced
Attorney General directed to trace documents and submit written reply, hearing adjourned till April 25.
ISLAMABAD:
The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday adjourned the hearing of the petition filed by Air Marshal (retd) Asghar Khan till April 25. The petition alleges that the Inter-Services Intelligence agency (ISI) distributed money among several politicians before the 1990 elections.
During today’s hearing, the Attorney General of Pakistan informed the court that inquiry reports from Mehran Bank and Habib bank have been misplaced.
The three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, expressed concern over the misplaced reports and directed the attorney general to convene a meeting with the responsible figure heads regarding the reports.
The attorney general has been directed to trace the documents and submit a written reply to the court.
The chief justice stated that a criminal proceedings case would be filed along with an FIR against the missing documents if they are not submitted in court.
