Scare: Dengue suspect admitted to PIMS

Doctor added that the fact will be important in determining the circulation of dengue virus in the twin cities

ISLAMABAD:
A man, exhibiting symptoms of dengue, was admitted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on Friday. Sources at the National Institute of Health (NIH) said they received blood samples of Muhammad Yasin, a street vendor, for testing. “It is important to note that Yasin has no history of travelling recently,” said the official. He added that the fact will be important in determining the circulation of dengue virus in the twin cities. Pims Spokesperson Waseem Khawaja said Yasin was brought to the hospital on Thursday evening with high fever and a mouth ulcer. World Health Organisation guidelines say symptoms of dengue include onset of high fever, accompanied by a flushed face, headache, and occasionally chills. Thereafter, there may be retro-orbital pain on eye movement or eye pressure, photophobia, backache, and pain in the muscles and joints and bones.
