LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has declared Friday as Green Day and fixed it for hearing cases regarding environmental public-interest litigation by the Green Benches in the high court and Green Courts in the districts.

This was announced by LHC Registrar Sohail Nasir at a press briefing on Friday.

Nasir said the judges nominated for the green benches and courts will hear only environment related cases on Fridays. He said the benches would not only deliver judgments but also provide solutions.

He said the 36 district and sessions judges and 109 civil judges and judicial magistrates had been nominated to hold green courts at the district and tehsil level. These judges, he said, will be given training at the Judicial Academy to enable them to deal with environment related cases efficiently.
