Preserving nature: Students get together for Earth Day
The event aimed to spread awareness on the importance of clean environment and sustainable energy for a better living.
ISLAMABAD:
Dressed as flowers, earth, buildings and water drops to represent nature, children from more than 10 schools joined hands and pulled off an impressive talent show here on Thursday. The event, held to mark the World Earth Day, aimed to spread awareness on the importance of clean environment and sustainable energy for a better living. While some students acted out scenes to protect the earth from different elements harming the environment, others gave speeches on pollution and water conservation and sung English and Urdu tracks. Dr Marilyn Wyatt, wife of US ambassador Cameron Munter, was the chief guest on the occasion. Addressing the energetic students, she said she was pleased to see the American holiday gain importance in Pakistan. “Pakistan, like the US, is proud of its natural environment and together the government, NGOs and schools can save it,” she remarked.
