Fazl, Shahbaz call for resolving Kashmir issue
Only a stable and strong Pakistan can solve the Kashmir issue, says Fazl.
LAHORE:
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday said that due to Pakistan’s decade-long history of poor policy-making, our security forces have been stuck on the country’s western borders.
“Kashmir was once an essential part of the country’s foreign policy but now it is being neglected,” the JUI-F chief said, adding that his party wants the resolution of the issue through dialogue with the acknowledgment that both parties are equal.
Only a stable and strong Pakistan can solve the Kashmir issue, Fazl said.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who hosted the meeting of Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir in Lahore, said that a strategy similar to the one adopted in West Germany would have to be implemented to resolve the Kashmir issue. Economic prosperity and judicious policies would help in demilitarising the region, he said.
