Family members of three men who were arrested from Lyari this month, claimed that they were innocent, and criticised the Pakistan Peoples Party for is targeting own supporters.
Mushtaq Pathan, Hasan Ali and Abid were arrested by the police for their alleged involvement in criminal activities, like murder, kidnapping for ransom and possession of illegal weapons.
During a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Monday, Lyari’s women residents said that innocent youngsters were being arrested from the area, and that people would not tolerate it. “My son worked in the fisheries as a labourer. He was detained by the police from Moosa Lane when he was coming from work on April 11. No case was registered against him but he was shown being arrested by CID SSP Chaudhry Aslam,” said Mushtaq Pathan’s father, Ashraf Khan.
Shahida Khan told the media that Hasan Ali had gone missing after visiting a hospital for a check-up on April 7. “Aslam presented him before the media on April 13, and declared him a notorious gangster. But no case was registered against him.”
Shahida added that Abid was also arrested by Aslam from Mira Nakka. While addressing Chaudhry Aslam, she said, “Don’t destroy our lives. Don’t lodge fake cases against our children.”
Hasan Ali’s father also appeared upset about the suffering of people of Lyari. “Does the government even consider us Pakistanis?”
The women also pointed out that police were not registering their complaints. “We appeal to Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to look into the matter and rescue our innocent children from Chaudhry Aslam’s grip,” said Sani Naz.
While replying to a question, Naz added that the people of Lyari will nominate their own candidates in the upcoming elections. “We’ll not vote for any PPP candidate, including Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.”

Everyone has a mother and all believe that their offspring are innocent. The true heroes are the mothers that raise their children to avoid misdeeds and do not try to protect them when they do wrong. Until we can develop these sort of mothers , we will continue to regress.
@Salman: I wonder, why he was entitled as a villain, when he was taking action against terrorists in 92, but now he is entitled hero?
All in praise of Ch Aslam. These press conferences are just a political distraction. Even if this thing is going to get a few innocent ones in trouble for a while, it is a necessary evil to close down this mayhem in Karachi every other day!
The term "Women & Children" doesn't always refer to sanity..... We need to understand that..
I salute the bravery of Choudhary Aslam! A real life "Hero".
Instead of fighting with police and security forces Lyari women should concentrate on educating their sons and arming them with valuable skills not guns/granades. they should prevent their kids being used as fuel to promote ugly interest of political parties and religious groups.
While Chaudhry sahib is no angel neither are the men he arrested. Family members including mothers will lie to protect their loved ones. Thats a no brainer. Don't forget the Sialkot duo who were slaughtered by a crowd in front of the police. Our society has degraded to a level where we have no morals. People are just interested in fending for their own interests with little disregard for others.
A counter question would be do they consider themselves to be a tiny part of a country named Pakistan. While abject poverty and in-education etc are to blame for their plight. Harbouring criminals makes them guilty by association.
The main problem is that no party in the govt is sincere to eradicate the crime not only from Liyari but from the whole Karachi, which was once a peaceful city. Karachi is a mini Pakistan and would remain. Neither, MQM & ANP nor PPP is sincere because they themselves harbouring crimes. What a pity that people still supports those who kills them.
Don't super villains have dual identities as well?
This is very good step from the police and CID. If they arrested definitly there is something wrong on their behalf..................................... when police do their jobs honestly than people started criticising...........which is not good at all.
No one can forget beheadings and mutilations of innocent citizens by the terrorists who are loved and supported by Lyari residents! We haven't either forgotten the slaughter houses and armouries which CID founded in neighbourhoods of Lyari 4-5 months back... So, Thumbs UP for CID and Ch. Aslam. at least someone is doing his job with justice.
Ch Aslam is a fearless police officer. He has been attacked by the terrorists. Karachites need more police officers like him! We salute his courage and fearless approach towards criminals.
:-O
So it means that people can fire rockets at police and no one should be arrested?
He is posted on the behest of MQM. He is conducting extra-Judicial killing in Lyari? Where is civil society, PTI, PMLN, Sindhi Nationalists now, they must voice their concern against such injustice against people of Lyari? Stop killing innocent people. We also request CJ to take notice of extra-Judicial killing being done in Lyari.
