Minority MPA demands road be named after Cecil Chaudhry

PPP MPA Pervez Rafique demands Cecil Chaudhry's achievements be included in the educational syllabus.

LAHORE:
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MPA on non-Muslim seat, Pervez Rafique on Monday submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly secretariat asking that at least one road in Lahore be named to honour the late Cecil Chaudhry and that his achievements be included in the educational syllabus.

The contents of the resolution state that “the house salutes the services and achievements of the deceased, particularly in the wars of 1965 and 1971”. The resolution demands that a road be named after Chaudhry and that his achievements be included in the educational syllabus so that “the new generation can learn from his excellent track record”.

Rafique said that minorities had become orphans as their prominent leader who often guided and encouraged them had passed away.

Decorated war hero, educationist and rights activist Cecil Chaudhry had passed away on Friday at the age of 70.

A veteran fighter pilot, Chaudhry was battling lung cancer since 2011 and was put on life support on April 11 as he was in the terminal stage of the disease.
