ISLAMABAD:
The city police on Saturday arrested a member of the Gilgit-Baltistan legislative assembly, Mirza Muhammad Hussain, for giving a bogus cheque to pay back debt. The complaint was lodged by one Muhammad Aslam, a resident of Gilgit-Baltistan, in January this year against Hussain for giving him a cheque of Rs3.9 million that the bank returned due to insufficient balance in his account. Aslam told the Aabpara police that Hussain borrowed money from him on the promise of returning it soon. On 24 March 2010, Hussain gave him a cheque of the borrowed amount but it bounced as he did not have enough cash in the bank. The police said they would produce Hussain before a magistrate on Sunday.
