Parking Congestion: Oil terminal inaugurated

The residents around Shireen Jinnah Colony will be relieved to know that work has official begun on the oil terminal in Zulfikarabad. Once it is built, the oil tankers parked in Clifton will hopefully move there.
On Saturday, Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan and Federal Petroleum Minister Dr Asim Hussain laid the foundation stone of the terminal along the National Highway. The Supreme Court issued orders that the project needs to be completed.
Karachi Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said the oil terminal will cost around Rs313.5 million and will be completed within five to six months. The parking lot will be 150 acres and will take around 2,568 oil tankers.
Around 2,375 shades will be built for them and after the terminal is completed, the tankers will be banned in downtown. The Sindh government will pay Rs153 million - Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and oil companies would contribute Rs47 million and Rs62 million, respectively.
