Cabinet reshuffle: 11 new ministers take oath

Five federal ministers, six state ministers take oath at 17th reshuffle of Federal Cabinet.

ISLAMABAD:
The Federal Cabinet saw more inductions as new ministers took oath at the 17th reshuffle at the Presidency on Friday.

Five senior members of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) – Raja Pervez Ashraf, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Nazar Muhammad Gondal, Rana Farooq Saeed and Farzana Raja – joined as federal ministers. It has also been reported that former law minister Maula Bux Chandio might be asked to look after Parliamentary affairs.


Ashraf, who was previously federal minister for water and power and had taken decisions regarding Rental Power Plants (RPP), is expected to get control of another key ministry. Kaira is once again expected to get the portfolio of Federal Minister for Information & Broadcast, a ministry he had held before it was assigned to Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan.

Tasneem Qureshi, who had served as minister of state for interior, and Malik Ammad Khan, minister of state for foreign affairs, also retained their portfolios. The other four ministers of state include MNA Raheela Baloch, Senator Abbas Afridi, Samsam Bukhari and MNA Malik Azmat.
