ISLAMABAD: The inauguration plate bearing former law minister Babar Awan’s name was removed from outside the Islamabad High Court bar room on Thursday. Islamabad High Court Bar Association President Muhammad Ashraf Gujjar said the bar room has now been named after Quaid-i-Azam. Gujjar accused Awan of buying loyalties in the legal fraternity against the judiciary by giving lawyers hefty grants during his term. “However, when his strategy didn’t work, he started a campaign to ridicule the judiciary,” said Gujjar. The former law minister was prosecuted for contempt of court adjudication after he criticised an apex court verdict handed down on December 1, 2011, pertaining to the formation of a judicial commission to probe the Memogate scandal.
