KARACHI:
In compliance with Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry’s order, all provinces submitted reports containing dates for local elections and according to the report from Punjab, the local government elections will take place by August 10 this year, Express News reported.

The CJ had inquired when the provinces would hold local government elections. These reports were a reply to his inquiry.

The CJ directed all provinces to present a schedule for the elections by April 30, 2012.

Earlier, during a recent hearing on law and order in Balochistan, the CJ had directed the chief secretaries of all provinces to submit a report on the delay in local government elections.
