Lacuna: Reko Diq now Export Processing Zone
Balochistan CM approved a Rs1.8 billion budget for the project for next year and a revised recruitment committee.

The Export Processing Zone Authority (EPZA), on the request of the Balochistan Government, has declared the Reko Diq mining area an export processing zone.
Reko Diq Gold and Copper Project Board of Governors Vice Chairman Dr Samar Mubarakmand apprised Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani of this development in a meeting on Tuesday.
After final approval from the Ministry of Industry, officials of the Balochistan government and EPZA will ink a memorandum of understanding in this regard, he said. Earlier, the Balochistan CM, who is also chairman of the Board of Governors of the project, approved decisions of the board; including a Rs1.8 billion budget for the project for next year and a revised recruitment committee.
Approval was also granted for the construction of a water pond for the provision of water to the project.
