Services of girl guides acknowledged

Award giving ceremony held at Prime Minister House.



An award giving ceremony was held at the Prime Minster’s House on Wednesday to acknowledge the services of the members of the Pakistan Girl Guides Association (PGGA) and to celebrate the centenary of guiding, said a press release issued by the PGGA. Prime Minister’s wife Fauzia Gilani, who is also the chief guide of the association, presided over the ceremony.


National Commissioner Farhana Azim in her opening remarks paid tribute to the members whose dedication and commitment enabled the association to grow sustainably.


She lauded the chief guide’s support and hoped that her continued support would also enable the association in completing the development project, holding camps for 1,500 girls and provide trainings to them.

Fatima Shamim, Young Leader from Islamabad branch shared her experiences in guiding.

Members were presented with the Lifetime Achievement awards for their dedication and voluntary service for more than 30 years, including Fakhar Lodhi, Maria Masud Sabri, Hassan Baloch, Nafisa Sikander Malhi, Dr Tahira Hussain, Nazima Khan, Tahira Ahmad, Begum M.H Sheerazi, Moeena Hidayatullah, Farhat Ashfaq, Khurshid Niazi, Saira Qazi, Khalida Bari, Ismat Niaz, Aziz Abdullah, Leela Harchandani and Dilshad Abdullah.

Voluntary service awards were given to Rukhshinda Nadeem, Ishrat Alliani, Iffat Ara, Kaneez Zehra, Saeeda Gilani, Nuzhat Aamir Sadiq, Hanifa Khanum, Imtiazur Rehman, Surraya Iqbal, Fehmida Sultana, Rozina Zulfiqar Ali Issani, Samina Ejaz, Rabia Ehsan and Azeema Shaheen. Moreover, Bilqees Jaffery. Arjumand Shamim, Najamus Sehar Ayubi and Nayyar Salam were given awards for rendering extraordinary services.
