The police claim that this Jane Doe’s parts were found around the city in eight pieces over three days, similar to a case they dealt with last month. In March, Nasreen’s finely cut up body was found in four different places near the Aga Khan Jamaatkhana in Garden.
While talking about the new Jane Doe case, the police said that her abdomen and legs were found in a garbage dump on Jahangir Road on Monday. The following day, her torso and arms were found near Capri Cinema.
Civil hospital’s medico-legal officers confirmed that the unidentified woman’s body was cut like Nasreen’s. They believe that the woman was fair and in her mid-30s.
According to MLO Karar Abbasi, a piece of black cloth was found in the blue plastic bag with the body.
“The woman was strangled. There are telltale signs on her neck,” he said. “She was cut into eight pieces - her arms were bruised which means that she was probably beaten before she was killed.”
A joint team of policemen and women from Jamshed Quarters and Solider Bazaar police station will be on the look-out for a suspect who they believe drives a while Corolla. Two policewomen will also be sent undercover to Mazaar-e-Quaid to look for the suspect. The police claim that they knew the colour of the suspect’s car from a rickshaw driver who saw a body bag being thrown out of a white car near Capri Cinema.
Murder in numbers
Nasreen’s case is still being investigated as the police traced her cell phone records. The Soldier Bazaar SHO, Khushnood Javed, said that Nasreen’s phone was used by the suspect(s) till March 26, 16 days after she was killed. And then they put her SIM card in another phone. “One of the locations from which the phone was being used was Patel Para,” he said.
According to the police, some of the last phone conversations Nasreen had was with an elderly man from Rawalpindi who had called her to the mazaar to give her some money. After tracing the calls, the DSP said that three men from Rawalpindi, Attock and Taxila were being questioned.
Jamshed Quarters DSP Qaiser A Shah suspects that the same man or gang could be involved in both cases. “We think it is a serial killer or an extremist who believes that by killing women who he suspects have bad morals, he can purify society,” he said. “Several years ago, something similar happened when men were accused of throwing acid on women who wore shalwars or trousers above their ankles along Tariq Road.”

Two policewomen will also be sent undercover to Mazaar-e-Quaid to look for the suspect” How smart of our police… they’ve told this in the news
Well, actually, how smart of he reporter to actually write this and really, how smart of the editor to actually let it print.
I understand 'the shaping of hearts and minds' plan of Mr. Bush, but people, oon logo'n kee achhee baatai'n bhee toe seekho.
And, writer, who dials M or X in Pakistan? People dial 6 or 9. And, who is Jane Doe? Did you think you were writing for the sponsors of "shape hearts and minds of Pakistanis"? This newspaper is published in and read by people in Pakistan...mostly.. Even if the sponsor's agenda is to enforce militant Wolf Blitzer's or fanatic Bill O'Reilly's views in Pakistan, even then, who is going to be brainwashed if you write 'dial M for murder' type lines in Pakistan.
so much information given to alert the culprit in the name of journalism.

Can Tribune please review its headlines..someone was brutally killed, we don't have to make it sound 'thrilling'..this is not a horror movie, this happened to a real person who lives, laughed, cried - had a life! Have respect please..
God Bless the people of Motherland!! I wish and pray that the culprits are caught and executed in public.. Aameen!
first of where is censorship of vital information. by informing us the suspect drives a corrolla, the suspect is also informed that we are informed. simply change the vehicle is what suspect will do next. our police should watch csi and other crime related seriers.. probably can learn something.. rather than watching Star plus
Deja Vu? Didn't we read this story before?
"Two policewomen will also be sent undercover to Mazaar-e-Quaid to look for the suspect" How smart of our police... they've told this in the news
OMG! I've always believed that we've had a number of serial killers in our country who literally got away with murder because of the complete lack of systems and professional competence of our police force! Let's see if they catch this one... or whether this one also walks in like Javed Iqbal seeking limelight!
this Is creepy
OMG! what is happening in country ..... terrible
These religious fanatics killing women should stop obsessing over how whether a woman's shalwar is above ankles or the length of her kameez. Aren't the religious fundos supposed to lower their gaze when they come across a woman? Why are they staring at the clothes of women in the first place?
This sick serial killer is a sorry excuse for a man and he should be immediately caught and imprisoned. Most of such misogynistic serial killers in history have been men with severe insecurities and inferiority complexes whose advances have been rejected by women in the past. They can't get over being rejected by a woman so they resort to using the length of her clothes as a twisted justification for murder.
no headwaybeing made, why cant they get cid to investigate, the perosn used mobile ofr 16 days and the exact location couldnt be traced out what rubbish? if it is in patel para then what did they do?
