Football: Bayern star faces jail over house fire
Bayern Munich’s Brazilian star Breno for allegedly setting fire to his own house last year.
BERLIN:
German prosecutors said they were to take action against Bayern Munich’s Brazilian star Breno for allegedly setting fire to his own house last year. “The public prosecutor’s office in Munich has ended its investigation into the fire on September 20, 2011,” read a statement, adding that it would ‘prosecute’ Breno on charges of starting the blaze himself. If found guilty, the 22-year-old defender could be jailed for a minimum of one year and a maximum of 15. However, Breno has already spent two weeks in custody before being released on bail last October. According to prosecutors, he was the only one in the luxury house in the Gruenewald at the time of the fire, which caused damage worth an estimated €1m.
