QUETTA: The University of Balochistan filed a petition in the Supreme Court of Pakistan challenging the illegal protest launched by its academic staff.

University administration was compelled to approach the superior judiciary in wake of a strike spanning over three weeks, suspending all academic activities. The academic staff, including professors, assistant professors, lecturers and other staff, waged the strike following the call given by the Academic Staff Association seeking an increment in various allowances.

The petition filed by the vice chancellor of the university describes the strike as illegal, discharging protesters of any bargaining rights.
