Turf war: Man injured in STPP-MQM clash dies
News of Hassan Turk’s death stirred backlash in Tando Allahyar, enraged people fired in air, forced markets to shut.
HYDERABAD:
A young man who was injured in a clash between workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party (STPP) in Tando Allahyar last month died on Sunday. He had been admitted at a hospital in Karachi for the past 11 days.
Three more people, including a seven-year-old-girl, Alishba Meyo, also died and around 20 more were injured during the gun fight which occurred over a piece of land on March 28.
The news of Hassan Turk’s death stirred a backlash in Tando Allahyar where enraged people fired in the air and forced the markets to shut down. The deputy commissioner, Rafique Ahmed Buriro, imposed Section 144 and called the Rangers and police to control the situation.
All the victims, including Turk, were claimed by the STPP. However, Turk’s father, Akbar Turk, claimed that his son did not belong to any political party and was only a social worker.
