Rajasthan post another win in IPL
Hodge, Cooper shine in 22-run win over KKR .
Rajasthan Royals registered their second successive win in the Indian Premier League (IPL), beating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 22 runs in Jaipur yesterday.
Quickfire innings from Ashok Menaria and Brad Hodge led Rajasthan to a competitive total of 164 for five before disciplined bowling ensured KKR were restricted to 142.
Kevon Cooper claimed three wickets, while Ankeet Chavan, Amit Singh and Siddharth Trivedi took two apiece as KKR were bowled out in the final over with only Manoj Tiwary offering any resistance with a well-made 59.
Brett Lee hit a 11-ball 25 but his effort was not enough to save KKR from their second defeat in as many games.
Earlier, Rajasthan recovered from the early loss of Ajinkya Rahane to post a decent total.
Captain Rahul Dravid contributed 26 but it was Menaria and Hodge who added 64 in just 43 balls for the fourth wicket that put Royals on course for a bigger total. Lee dismissed Hodge for 44, while Menaria also became the Australia fast-bowler’s victim after making 40.
However, Owais Shah gave the innings a final boost with a whirlwind 23.
