Judo: Fauzia, Humaira bag gold medals

Fauzia Mumtaz and Humaira Ashiq confirmed their status as the country’s top judokas, bagging gold medals for Army and Wapda respectively, as the National Women Judo Championship concluded in Rawalpindi.
Mumtaz, who participated in the Judo World Cup 2010 in Cairo, bagged two gold medals for Army in the 70-kilogramme (kg) and open category events. Meanwhile, Wapda’s Ashiq, who represented the country in the Martial Arts Games 2009 in Bangkok, defeated Fazilat Fatima in the 57-kg event.
In overall rankings, Army dominated with 86 points followed by Wapda and HEC.
The championship featured 18 teams and 78 athletes in the two-day event.
