Head-on: Eight die in two motorcyle accidents

Eight people were killed in two accidents in Bhakkar and Rajanpur.



All five people travelling on a motorcyle on the National Highway from Bhakkar to Layyah died in a head-on collision with a tractortrolley. Muhammad Ahmad was driving the motorcycle. Eyewitness Ali said the motorcycle was trying to overtake a truck.

Four of the five passengers died on the spot. Ahmad’s sister Hajira, 22, was taken to the Bhakkar DHQ hospital where she died from head injuries.

In the other incident, three people travelling on a motorcycle died when they were hit by a truck head-on. The passengers were Bachal Mayi, 25, Bilal Ahmed, 14, and Sabir Ali, 5. All three died on the way to Rajanpur DHQ hospital where they were being taken by Rescue 1122. Bashir Ghulam, a wagon driver, said the motorcyclists had been racing the passenger wagon and had just overtaken it from the wrong side. A complaint was registered by the victims father against the truck driver in the Mohammadpur police station.
