Standing Orders: Sindh Reserve police go to court for promotions

The Sindh Reserve Police have gone to court to stave off a possible merger with the Sindh Police.
Twenty-two inspectors in reserve police have filed petitions.
They have said that the Supreme Court had ordered the Sindh police chief to rescind all standing orders. And except for Standing Order 125/1994, all of them were taken back.
But unless this specific one is rescinded, their promotions could not be considered by a committee scheduled to meet on Saturday, April 7.
About 108 inspectors would benefit if the standing order is taken back.
On Friday, the Sindh High Court’s Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui heard their arguments and ordered for pre-admission notices to be issued for April 30 to the people named in the petitions, including the inspector general of police and Sindh home secretary.
