Grant To APNS: PFUJ files petition in SC
The petition says that the government was spending public funds ruthlessly.
ISLAMABAD:
Secretary General Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (Dastoori) Mian Riffat Qadri has filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the release of Rs300 million to the All Pakistan Newspaper Society (APNS) by the government pleading that the grant in aid has been issued for political purposes and its release should be held illegal. The petition said that the government was spending public funds ruthlessly and the release of this heavy amount will not benefit the newspaper employees. The petition has requested the apex court to make the release of the amount conditional to the implementation of the seventh wage board award as this amount cannot be paid to advertising agencies. The petition says that the prime minister is not authorised to issue such grants in aid.
