Imran Khan calls for judicial inquiry into Gilgit-Baltistan violence

Says government has failed to maintain law and order in Gilgit-Baltistan.

ISLAMABAD:
Chairman Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Imran Khan on Wednesday called for a judicial inquiry into the tragic incidents of sectarian violence in Gilgit and Chilas which have resulted in the loss of 10 lives and left dozens injured.

The PTI Chairman expressed his deep sorrow for the bereaved families, offering condolences and prayers. He also prayed for speedy recovery of the injured.

He added that the PTI strongly condemns all acts of sectarian violence and said that if PTI came to power it will work to unite all sects, promote peace and harmony in the country.

Khan said that the tragic incident speaks volumes of the bad governance and failure of the government to bring the law and order situation under control.

“Since this government came into power there has been a considerable escalation in the frequency and intensity of incidents of sectarian violence. It is a matter of great concern for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to see that Gilgit region which was once a peaceful area, has continually witnessed sectarian violence under the current government,” he said.

He urged the government to take concrete steps in order to improve the law and order situation of the region on an urgent basis.
