ISLAMABAD:

Hussain Haqqani submitted an application to the judicial commission on Wednesday, asking for his appearance to be excused at the Memogate scandal hearing on April 5 (today) on medical grounds.

Zahid Bukhari, Haqqani’s counsel, submitted the application on his behalf, seeking adjournment of the hearing. He claimed that Haqqani, who is a heart patient, has to undergo Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) at the American National Institute of Health in the US.

Bukhari also said that after consultation with doctors, Haqqani will determine his future strategy, adding that his application is already pending with the Supreme Court.

The Commission summoned Pakistan’s former ambassador to US, the JKLF chief and Director General (USA) Foreign Office Ubaidur Rehman, among others, to appear before the commission on April 5, bearing records of foreign office’s correspondence with Haqqani.
