ISLAMABAD: Afghan President Hamid Karzai telephoned Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Wednesday and expressed his concerns over the emergency landing of his plane at the Chaklala airbase while on its way to Sukkur.

The Afghan president also extended invitation to the prime minister to visit Kabul.

Gilani accepted the invitation and said that he would soon visit the Afghan capital.

“We would also review the progress made toward political reconciliation in the context of the last bilateral meeting held in Islamabad,” the prime minister said.

Gilani’s plane made an emergency landing at the Chaklala airbase in Rawalpindi on Tuesday after experiencing a technical failure. However, all people onboard remained safe.
