Pulling plug on rental power will push Pakistan into darkness: Qamar
Authorities shouldn't take decisions which could cause damage to Pakistan, says minister.
KARACHI:
Federal Minister for Water and Power Naveed Qamar said on Wednesday that the decision of shutting down Rental Power Projects by the Supreme Court of Pakistan was not a “good omen” and that the decision will push Pakistan into darkness.
Speaking to the media at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, Qamar said that the authorities do not have the power [to make such decisions] and should not take actions which could cause damage to Pakistan in any way.
Responding to a question regarding the increasing crisis in the petroleum and natural gas segment, he said that an energy conference was due on April 9 in Lahore, which will be attended by the chief ministers of all four provinces and officials from the federal government.
“We will sit together and chalk out a strategy in order to overcome this crisis.”
