“We saw an abundance of talent during the tournament,” Qasim told The Express Tribune. “There were several new faces who were very impressive. We’ve taken note of several outstanding players and this event will help us form a formidable squad for the 2012 World Twenty20.”
He added the selection committee had not discussed the squad with coach Dav Whatmore during the tournament.
“We didn’t get a chance but there will definitely be consultation with the coach in the coming days.”
Meanwhile, according to an official close to the team management, Whatmore has also formed a list of players who impressed him during the tournament.
“Whatmore may invite the new faces to the National Cricket Academy for grooming as he also has the task of finding budding individuals,” said the official.

Raza Hasan (left arm spin bowler) needs a chance!
I think; Gohar Ali (peshawar Keeper) Raza Hasan(Stallions) Imran Nazir (Stallions) Hammad Azam (Pindi) Ahmad Shahzad (Lahore) Shahzaib Hasan (Karachi) Anwar Ali (Karachi) Zia Ul Haq (Lahore) Should be added in talent pool to groom for the Future. And i think Ahmed Shahzad can take up Leading roles in future as well.
Imran Nazir & Khalid Latif shud be included as openers for the Pakistan's T20 team!
@tnt: 100% in agreement with you. I believe they should pick-up 6 openers, 6 middle order batsmen, 6 pacers, 6 spinners & 4 wicket keepers from this tournament & groom them in the National academy for future.
haris sohail and khalid latif should be considered.
Everyone either new or old if giving performance should be included. Out of form players should be given rest to groom fresh talent.
they should really get imran nazir back into the team, esp for t20s also performances by khurram latif and shahzeb hassan shouldnt go unnoticed.
Zia-ul-Haq, Haris Sohail, Ahmed Shehzad and Khalid Latif these players were stand out in the tournament and should be included in the squad for the t20 WC. Teams like Australia, South Africa and England play all their rookies in the t20 format to make them accustomed to international cricket before bringing them onto the big boy stage. I'm pretty sure we do not need 37 year old Misbah in the team.
I feel that Imran nazir is explosive player , especially t20s. I think we should have him back in the national t20 side.
i hope these outstanding faces do not include that of shoaib malik
