KARACHI: Pakistan’s chief selector Iqbal Qasim was hugely impressed with the performance in the Super Eight T20 Cup upcoming talent.

“We saw an abundance of talent during the tournament,” Qasim told The Express Tribune. “There were several new faces who were very impressive. We’ve taken note of several outstanding players and this event will help us form a formidable squad for the 2012 World Twenty20.”

He added the selection committee had not discussed the squad with coach Dav Whatmore during the tournament.

“We didn’t get a chance but there will definitely be consultation with the coach in the coming days.”

Meanwhile, according to an official close to the team management, Whatmore has also formed a list of players who impressed him during the tournament.

“Whatmore may invite the new faces to the National Cricket Academy for grooming as he also has the task of finding budding individuals,” said the official.

For T20 Imran Nazir/Khalid Lateef/ Harris Sohail/ Ahmed Shahzad/Kamran Akmal For ODI: Ahmed Shahzad/ Harris Sohail/Kamran Akmal (we don't have a choice)/Shoaib Malik (No matter how much people dislike him he is a game reader and has experience which we lack currently in the middle order but he must not start same grouping campaign, I wonder he plays better for Sialkot than for Pakistan strange) Bowlers: Sadly could not find an eye-catcher.
