‘Difficult to maintain law and order in K-P’

Maintaining law and order a challenge due to presence of millions of Afghan refugees, proximity with tribal belt.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Muhammad Akbar Khan Hoti, on Saturday, said that maintaining law and order in the province was a bit of a challenge due to presence of millions of Afghan refugees and its proximity with the tribal belt.


The police are striving round the clock to maintain peace, the police chief said during a briefing to visiting under-training officers of 39th common training programme from the Civil Services Academy Lahore, which called on him at his office.


The IGP briefed the trainee officers about the administrative structure of the police, its working ambit and its efficiency in curbing the crime rate in the province.

He said that 98 kilogrammes of explosives, 20 suicide jackets, 135 hand grenades, eight missiles and 75 safety fuses were recovered in the last two months.

Hoti highlighted the sacrifices offered by the police in fighting against terrorists.  He said 21 police officials have been killed in the war against terror.
