PESHAWAR:

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Muhammad Akbar Khan Hoti, on Saturday, said that maintaining law and order in the province was a bit of a challenge due to presence of millions of Afghan refugees and its proximity with the tribal belt.

The police are striving round the clock to maintain peace, the police chief said during a briefing to visiting under-training officers of 39th common training programme from the Civil Services Academy Lahore, which called on him at his office.

The IGP briefed the trainee officers about the administrative structure of the police, its working ambit and its efficiency in curbing the crime rate in the province.

He said that 98 kilogrammes of explosives, 20 suicide jackets, 135 hand grenades, eight missiles and 75 safety fuses were recovered in the last two months.

Hoti highlighted the sacrifices offered by the police in fighting against terrorists.  He said 21 police officials have been killed in the war against terror.

@Politicaly incorrect: These fellow coreligionists pick out and brutally murder Pakistanis in Afghanistan. These coreligionists hate Pakistan and spend their free time bashing Pakistan. These fellow coreligionists will kill us when and where they have the opportunity to. Afghans, especially Afghan Tajiks and Uzbeks, need to be sent back home. We have enough problems of our own. They use our brotherly Pakistani Pashtuns and play the ethnicity/cultural card to stay in Pakistan and yet hate Pakistan as much as we hate India.

@ather How can you say that? The Afghans are our coreligionist, a member of ummah. I agree with you that there are problems but have faith in the power and wisdom of Almighty. He will help us solve every problem.
