Fire in Sohrab Goth engulfs huts, shops and cabins

Over one hundred shops and huts were destroyed by a fire which broke out in Sohrab Goth on Friday.

Over one hundred shops and huts were destroyed by a fire which broke out in Sohrab Goth on Friday.


The fire reportedly started around 11:45 am at the katchi abadi opposite Al-Asif Square and rapidly spread to the nearby shops. Upon information, two fire tenders were initially sent to the site and later, 16 more fire tenders from all over the city were called to douse the fire.

The fire brigade officials described the blaze as a third degree fire since it was intense and destroyed over one hundred shops, makeshifts, cabins and huts.

The firefighters took almost four hours to extinguish the fire. No injuries or deaths were reported and the cause has yet to be ascertained. Police officials said that no criminal element was found during the initial investigation and that the fire was probably accidental.
